PhD Student; Research Assistant
Biography/Research interests
Mr Georgakopoulos is currently undertaking his PhD in Regenerative Medicine under the supervision of Mr Kourosh Saeb-Parsy (Department of Surgery) and Meritxell Huch (MPI-CBG, Dresden, Germany; Gurdon Institute, Cambridge, UK). The project aims to study the efficacy and immunogenicity of adult derived pancreatic stem cells as a cellular therapy for diabetes. This model of therapy aims to work alongside or replace clinical islet transplantation.
He completed his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Southampton. He then moved to Cambridge and for the past two years has been working as a research assistant in the Department of Surgery as well as coordinator of the Cambridge Biorepository for Translational Medicine
