Mr Siong S. Liau who is a Consultant Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, and a concurrent MRC-Academy of Medical Sciences Clinician Scientist at the University Department of Surgery and MRC Cancer Unit, Cambridge has been awarded one of the most prestigious surgical travelling fellowships in the British Isles, the 2018 Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) Moynihan Travelling Fellowship.
As an ambassador for British and Irish surgery, he has been invited to visit 3 world-renowned HPB units in South Korea and Japan, with the theme focussed on his main clinical interest in minimally-invasive liver and pancreatic surgery. His fellowship travels will bring him to Seoul where he will visit Professor Sung-Gyu Lee at the Division of Liver Transplantation and Hepatobiliary Surgery, Asan Medical Centre and Professor Ho-Seong Han at the Department of Surgery, Seoul National University Bundang Hospital. This will be followed by Tokyo where he will join Professor Goro Honda who leads the Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at Tokyo Metropolitan Cancer Center and Komagome Hospital.
