The academic urology group had a very successful British Association of Urological Surgeons Annual Meeting in July 2017. Mr Grant Stewart (UL) presented the initial results of the A-PREDICT clinical trial of axitinib in metastatic kidney cancer patients not suitable for a cytoreductive nephrectomy, Mr Stewart’s paper in the Best Academic Session won the British Journal of Urology International best academic paper at BAUS.
Mr David Thurtle (ACF) won The Urology Foundation Medal for their best research proposal of 2017. Mr Turtle also won the best poster presentation in the prostate cancer session. Mr Vincent Gnanapragasam (UL) organised the Section of Academic Urology sessions at the meeting, which were extremely well received.
